Varicose Vein Treatment

Heavy, aching, swollen legs and twisted veins can be treated. We offer modern, minimally invasive procedures, planned after a duplex scan of your veins.

Why varicose veins form

Leg veins have one-way valves that push blood up towards the heart. When a valve weakens, blood leaks backwards and pools. The vein stretches, twists and bulges under the skin.

Treatment closes or removes the leaking vein. Blood then uses the healthy veins around it.

Our varicose vein treatments

Laser energy

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

A thin laser fibre is passed into the faulty vein through a tiny puncture. Laser heat seals the vein from the inside, and the body slowly absorbs it.

Radiofrequency heat

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

A small catheter heats the vein wall with controlled radiofrequency energy. The vein shrinks and closes. Patients usually return to light daily work quickly.

Medical glue

Medical Glue Closure

A medical adhesive is placed in the vein through a catheter, which glues the vein walls together. It avoids heat and often avoids the need for compression stockings afterwards.

Foam sclerotherapy

Foam Sclerotherapy

A special foam is injected with a fine needle. It irritates the lining of the vein so the vein closes. It suits smaller varicose veins, spider veins and veins that remain after other treatment.

AnaesthesiaUsually none

Micro-incision removal

Microphlebectomy

Bulging surface veins are removed through very small cuts, each only a few millimetres. It is often combined with laser or radiofrequency closure of the main vein.

Compression Therapy

Medical stockings press on the leg, firmest at the ankle. This helps blood move upward, eases swelling and heaviness, and supports healing after other procedures.

What happens on treatment day

Duplex scanAn ultrasound shows which valves leak and where blood flows backwards.
Vein mappingYour doctor marks the veins to treat and picks the best method.
ProcedureMost treatments are done with local anaesthesia and take around an hour or less.
Walk and follow upYou walk soon after, wear compression if advised, and return for a check scan.

Frequently asked questions

Are varicose veins only a cosmetic problem?

Not always. They can cause pain, swelling, skin changes and ulcers. Even without symptoms, it is worth having them checked.

Which treatment is best for me?

It depends on the size and position of the veins and on your scan. Your doctor may combine more than one treatment.

Will I need to stay in hospital?

Most modern procedures are done as day-care, and you walk home the same day. Your doctor will confirm this for your case.

Can varicose veins come back?

New veins can form over time, especially if the cause is not controlled. Walking, healthy weight and follow-up scans help lower the chance.

Do I need to wear stockings afterwards?

Often yes, for a period your doctor advises. Some methods need less compression than others.

Ready for lighter, healthier legs?

Get your veins scanned and learn which treatment suits you.
